2. Compare on the same basis
Use the same borrowing, repayment basis, term and comparison period. Obtain figures from the lender illustration or adviser. If fees are added to borrowing, include their interest and the higher balance; do not count the same fee twice.
| Check | Option A | Option B | Option C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lender / product / quote date | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |
| Borrowing and full mortgage term | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |
| Fixed / variable and deal end date | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |

| Early repayment charges and end dates | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |
| Overpayment allowance / porting conditions | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |
| Eligibility or evidence still to check | ____________ | ____________ | ____________ |
Cost check: payments plus upfront fees, less incentives, less principal repaid = interest and fees over the comparison period. This assumes all other costs are included consistently. It is not the same as total lifetime mortgage cost. Record costs of leaving an existing deal separately and include them where applicable.
